Shackles and Floating Dungeons: Slavery and the Slave Trade in Rhode Island

Dr. Charlotte Carrington-Farmer, Assistant Professor of Early American History at Roger Williams University,will be our guest for this presentation.   Some of the topics she will discuss are: how Newport and Bristol drew RI infro the wider currents of the slave trade, and why the slave trade was at the heart of the state's economic success, as well as the horrors of life on a slave ship.  Seating is limited.
