Kids Comic Workshop

The Comics Consortium is coming to the George Hail Library on Tuesday, May 21st, 4:00-6:00!!!!!

The George Hail Library will host a free COMICS MAKING WORKSHOP for kids ages 8-12. This workshop will focus on drawing games, character creation, and story-telling with images. The final art work will be compiled into an anthology which will be given to all participants and libraries.

The Providence Comics Consortium with support from the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts teaches comics and cartooning at libraries throughout Rhode Island and publishes the work of these young artists for all to enjoy.

Story Hour Schedule:

Kiddy Tales - Tuesdays @ 10:30am - Storytime for ages 3 to 5
Reading Explorers - Wednesdays @ 3:30 pm - For ages 6 to 10
Family Fun Night - Wednesdays @ 6:30 pm - For all ages
Tales for Twos - Thursdays @ 10:30 am - For 2 year olds

Each storyhour will include stories, songs, crafts, films and lots of fun.

About our Programs

We offer programs year round, including Story Hour for toddlers, Wednesday-Night Family Night and school vacation programs. During Winter and Spring Vacations children can sign up for activities like story tellers, nature programs and craft sessions.

During summer vacation there is an active Summer Reading Club. This involves reading books, recording them and being involved in exciting Reading Club activities. Each week, there are storytellers who visit the library in the Summer to entertain children and families.

About our Resources

The Children's Room offers resources for K-12, with an extensive reference section for homework help. Our web site includes the Kid's Corner Information Place designed to provide reliable Internet resources for kids and the Teens page for high school level help.

Two computers are available, each with Internet access and word processing. Printing is also available at 15 cents a page.
